Frensham Ponds and Sculpture Park

Looking at my walking routes and destinations, you may have noticed that I am obsessed with visiting any type of water body. And this time this day trip involves visiting two ponds in Surrey: Frensham Little Pond and Frensham Great Pond.

Frensham Little Pond and around offers a walk not only with great views of water but also a wild and habitat with dry soil making you wonder where you are. We had a 2.5 kilometres of walk around the lake which you can easily make longer as there are so many paths. You can see more walk ideas here.

Fernsham Great Pond is a totally different place to Fernsham Little Pond as it has so much sand. It feels like you are somewhere on seaside. I was shocked by the fact that a pond can have a sandy beach. You may ask "Is that even possible?", apparently it is! And here is the proof:

Our day followed another walk around and near the Great Pond, But this is a much more difficult walk because of the sand and the big risk of getting sand into your shoes so you need to walk very slowly as if you are trying not to wake someone up.

After this, it was a struggle to be able to find somewhere to eat, but in the end we managed to find a parking spot and place to eat at which is always a miracle in the popular countryside of UK on weekends. There has been other days where we ended up getting a snack from a petrol station shop because we could not find any places where they had a table free for walk-ins. Everyone makes reservations in countryside pubs apparently and this must be another secret fact like a pond with a sandy beach that I have not been aware of in my life and learned through these trips. So be prepared for these kind of crazy moments and surprises when visiting UK countryside! :)

Anyways, after this very long paragraph around the extinction of walk-in tables in countryside pubs, I need to say we managed to get one at Bell & The Dragon after long hours of driving in circles.

After a delicious meal, we have also explored the Sculpture Park which is again another surprise you can find in this day out trip. This park has over 600 sculptures made of different materials in a woody park. It is very fun and colorful.
