I always feel bad for some reason when I fold a page of a book that I am reading to mark where I have left. I always donate books or buy second-hand books so maybe that is why I am trying to do the least damage so that many more readers can enjoy the books I pass on. So I decided it is time to make myself a bookmark!

This is very easy to make and even though I used my sewing machine, you can also just hand sew.
You can upcycle the materials you already have at home such as piece of cardboard from a box that came with a delivery and some scrap fabric from another sewing project or an old t-shirt.

Once you have a piece of cardboard at the size you want, you can cut a piece of fabric that will wrap around the cardboard. For my bookmark, I have cut a fabric that is twice the width of the bookmark plus 2 cm in order to leave slack for the edges that will be sewed together, And fabric length is length of the cardboard plus 1 cm (slack at the bottom edge) and 1 inch (slack at the top edge.)

Now we fold the fabric width wise and pin where the bookmark's top will be by leaving 1 cm slack from the bottom, and sew along the long edge starting from where it is pinned.

We cut any extra fabric on the sewed edge and reverse the fabric so that sewed edge will be inside and invisible. Then we tuck the bottom edges in and sew so that bottom of the fabric is closed. We can now place the cardboard piece into the fabric.

Once the cardboard is in, we will cut the excess fabric at the top, but only the part at the back of the bookmark until where the cardboard is and tuck the front fabric over the cardboard to the back like an envelope, so that the top of the cardboard is closed as well.

And ta- daaaa your fabric bookmark is ready!

Optional: You can iron both sides of the bookmark for a more neat look.

KİTAP AYRACI YAPIMI

İkinci el kitap almayı ve kitaplarımı bağışlamayı seviyorum belki de ondan okuduğum kitaplar en iyi şekilde bir sonraki sahibine gitsin istiyorumdur? Evde bulduğum malzemelerden ileri dönüşüm ile kitap ayracımı nasıl yaptığımu bu yazıda paylaşıyorum.
Yapımı çok kolay ve ben dikiş makinemi kullandım ama sadece elle de dikilebilir.
Gereken malzemeler: makas, kumaş, karton ve mezura. Eski bir kutudan karton parçası ve başka bir dikiş projesinden veya eski bir t-shirt'ten arta kalmış kumaşlar gibi evinizde bulunan malzemeleri bu proje için geri dönüştürebilirsiniz.
İstediğiniz büyüklükte bir karton parçasısını hazırladıktan sonra, kartonun etrafını saracak bir parça kumaşı keseceğiz. Bu kumaşı karton parçasının eninin iki katı genişliğinde (bu ölçüye dikiş için ekstra 2 cm ekleyelim) ve kartonun uzunluğundan 4 cm daha uzunluğunda keselim.
Şimdi kumaşı enlemesine katlayalım. Kartonu aşağısında 1 cm boşluk bırakacak şekilde üstüne yerleştirelim ve kitap ayracının üst kısmının olacağı yere iğne ile işaretleyelim. İğne koyduğumuz hizadan katlanmış kumaşı uzun kenar boyunca dikelim.
Kenarlarda herhangi bir ekstra kumaş car ise keselim, dikilen kenar içeride kalacak ve görünmez olacak şekilde kumaşı ters çevirelim. Ardından alt kenarları içerisine katlayalım ve kumaşın altını kapatacak şekilde dikelim. Artık karton parçasını kumaşın içine yerleştirebiliriz.
Karton yerleştirdikten sonra fazla kumaşı üstten keseceğiz, ancak sadece ayracın arkasındaki kumaşı ve kartonun olduğu yere kadar keselim ve ön kumaşı kartonun üzerinden katlayıp bir zarf gibi arkadaki kumaşın içine geçirelim. Böylece ayracın üst kısmını da kumaş ile kaplamış oluyoruz.
Ve taaaaa daaa, kumaş kitap ayracınız hazır!
